The Department of Software Student Self-Governing Activities Management Rules
Article 1 (Purpose)
This Rule aims to regulate the necessary matters in operating academic soceities and research clubs within the Department of Software, College of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Chungbuk National University.
Article 2 (Definition of Academic Societies and Research Clubs)
Academic Societies and research clubs governed under these rules shall be defined as the following.
1. Academic society means that a self-governing entity comprised of current students of the department of software, and all students of the department of software are considered that they have become a member without a separate registration procedure.2. Research club means a self-organizing gathering of the students in order to improve their academic aptitude and practical experience related to an area of specialization among the curriculum of the department of software.
Article 3 (Registration)
The Academic Society and all research clubs which intend to engage in formal activities within the department of software shall register by the representative of an organization submitting Research Club (Academic Society Activity) Application [Form 1] to the department office no later than two weeks prior to the beginning of the first semester of each academic year. However, a new applicant may not omit the activity record of the research club for the preceding year.
Article 4 (Registration Eligibility)
A research club shall meet the following requirements to be eligible to register.
1. The number of members in the research club shall be 10 persons or more;2. At least 80% of the members in the research club shall be enrolled in the Department of Software.
3. shall be supervised by the Full-time faculty member of the Department of Software.
Article 5 (Registration Review and Approval)
The Department chair shall convene assessment committee to select academic society and research clubs by evaluating operation plan for the academic year, activity history of the preceding year, and, engagement of supervising faculty, etc., of the academic society and research club and notify of the selection before the first semester begins each academic year.
Article 6 (Support for academic society and research club)
① The Department may provide the following support to an approved academic society and a research club
1. Assignment of venues for activities2. Equipment Support
3. Monetary support from the department, subject to availability
② Whereas the room for academic society and club shall be assigned with the priority based on the results as assessed in Article 5, subject to availability of venues under the control of the department, the Department may assign up to 1 venue for each supervising faculty. However, the academic society room shall be exempted.
Article 7 (Activities)
Academic Society and a research club shall perform the following activities, especially shall actively engage in internal or external events involving the university or projects funded by the external institutions.
1. Common Activities ① Maintaining environment in support of academic activities② Fostering Collaboration among students
③ Strengthening the reputation of the Department of Software 2. Matters relating to the research clubs ① Activities to improve practical skills related to specialization
② Submitting for internal and external exhibitions
③ Participating in various competitions and contests held by external institutions
Article 8 (Usage of the provided venue)
Academic Society and any research club provided with an assigned venue shall comply with the following subparagraphs.
1. Maintaining clean conditions2. Cooking and lodging shall not be allowed
3. Bringing in or consuming alcoholic beverages shall not be allowed
4. Any inappropriate entertainment activities shall not be allowed
5. Any electrical heating devices shall not be allowed
6. Any other activities that may be detrimental to the activity goals of the academic society and research clubs
7. Shall maintain the space's original condition
Article 9 (Reporting the records of activities)
The Academic Society and research club shall submit the activity records of the previous year accompanied by objectively verifiable supporting documents to the department office along with the application to register an academic society and research club every February.
Article 10 (Miscellaneous)
Any other specific matters not provided in this rule may be determined and enforced by the Department Chair of the Department of Software.
Addenda
Article 1 (Effective Date)
This rule shall be in effect on and after April 19, 2011.
Article 2 (Interim Measures)
Any matters under the provisions in this rule concluded before the enforcement of this rule shall be construed to have been enforced under this rule.
Article 3 (Amendment as Student Self-Governing Activity Management Rules)
In order to cover the activities of the academic society with the provisions under the Research Club Management Rules, the amendment shall be provided in regards to the name of the rules and the amendment shall be in effect on and after February 21, 2014.
