The Academic Regulations Department of Computer Science Chungbuk National University Graduate School
Chapter 1 General Provisions
Article 1 (Purpose)
These regulations aim to regulate the matters pertaining to the operation of academic affairs and academic programs of the Department of Computer Science, Chungbuk National University Graduate School (hereinafter referred to as the Department).
Article 2 (Scope of Regulations)
These Regulations define general matters necessary for the operation of academic affairs of the Department, and any other matters shall be governed by the Academic Regulations of the University.
Chapter 2 Academic Programs
Article 3 (Organization and Operation of Academic Programs)
The Academic programs shall be organized and operated in compliance with the following.
① Academic Programs of the department shall be organized based on the academic specialization of the department’s faculty. If the department intends to create an academic course that covers any other specialization, the department shall obtain prior consent from the faculty member assigned to the course.
② Hiring of a new professor, etc. shall be reflected in the organization of the Academic Programs.
③ Academic courses offered during each semester shall be, in principle, 5 courses
④ Periodic cooldown between offering the same Academic course shall be at least 4 semesters. However, the cooldown of the Algorithm course shall be 3 semesters.Article 4 (Subject of Completion of Prerequisites)
Students who are required to complete prerequisite courses shall be processed as follows.
① Students who have not completed an undergraduate program of same the specialization, which is similar or other specializations, are required to complete prerequisite courses; the distinction of whether the students have completed the same or similar undergraduate program shall be determined by the department chair.
② All students committed for admission shall submit the academic transcript from the undergraduate program to the department chair; the department chair shall notify of the matters relating to the completion of prerequisites no later than 7 days prior to the course registration date of the first semester.Article 5 (Completion of Prerequisite Courses)
Students who are subjects of completion of prerequisite courses shall complete all academic courses specified by the department chair (For master’s program, such courses shall be designated in between 3 to 24 credit hours based on the students’ course completion and required academic courses for the Department of Software Programs) before the graduation.
Chapter 3 Selection of Academic Advisor and Graduation Requirements
Article 6 (TA Activities)
In principle, Full-time masters’ candidates shall be responsible to engage in laboratory or practice Teaching assistant roles in an undergraduate course specified by the Department for the period of 2 semesters.
However, 3-3-1 courses that includes 1 credit hours in design shall be excepted.Article 7 (Selection of an Academic Supervisor)
In principle, a master candidate shall determine their academic supervisor before the 2nd semester, and a doctoral candidate shall determine their academic advisor before the 3rd semester.
Article 8 (Comprehensive Examination)
Each professor of the Department shall suggest one of the academic courses that they have offered within the past 2 years as an examination course, and a student shall select three designated examination courses to take the exams and achieve the passing grades.
Article 9 (Submission of Thesis Requesting a degree)
Following Research performance is required to be eligible to submit a thesis or a dissertation requesting a degree.
① 석사과정은 다음의 졸업요건을 충족해야 한다.
1) (2021년 학번까지) 국내 학술논문지에 1회 이상 논문을 게재하거나 또는 국제학술대회에서 1회 이상 발표한다.
2) (2022년 학번부터) KCI급(또는 SCI(E)급 또는 Scopus) 논문 1편 이상 투고, 또는 특허 1건 이상 출원한다.
② Candidates in a full-time doctoral program shall meet all of the following graduation requirements. 1) (2021년 학번까지) SCI(E)급 학술지에 제 1 저자로 1회 이상 논문을 개재하고, 국제학술대회에서 2회이상 발표하거나 국내 학술논문지에 2회 이상 논문을 개제한다
2) (2022년 학번부터) SCI(E)급 학술지에 제 1 저자로 2편이상(연구재단에서 인정하는 CS 우수국제학술대회 발표도 인정) 게재한다. 단, JCR 상위 10% 이내의 논문 1편은 SCI(E)급 논몬 2편으로 인정할 수 있다. ③ Candidates in part-time doctoral candidate shall satisfy the following graduation requirement based on their year of admission. 1) Candidates who are admitted between 2005 - 2017 shall satisfy the following requirements. - For candidates in Natural Science, Engineering, and Medicine shall have published two or more scholarly articles in an international academic journal of their specialization, listed in SSCI, AHCI, SCI (Including SCI-Expanded List) or Scopus, or designated by the National Research Foundation of Korea as prospected journals to be listed or higher. 2) Candidates who are admitted in or after 2018 shall satisfy the following requirements. - Any person who intends to submit a dissertation requesting a doctoral degree shall have a record of publishing scholarly articles of 300% or greater since admission, and the standard for admitting research performance shall.Classification Principal Author, Co-author disciplines of humanities, social sciences fine and physical arts disciplines of natural sciences, engineering and medicine disciplines of humanities, social sciences fine and physical arts disciplines of natural sciences, engineering and medicine SSCI, AHCI, SCI(E) 300% 300% 300% 200% Scopus 300% 300% 200% 200% Journals listed by National Research Foundation of Korea 300% 200% 150% 150% Journals Prospected to be listed as designated by National Research Foundation of Korea 150% 150% 100% 100% 3) be scholarly articles marked with the affiliation as Chungbuk National University to be admitted as the research performance, if the article is submitted to meet the graduation requirements, in case of the candidates in part-time masters and doctoral programs. ④ For candidates in full-time integrative masters and doctoral programs, the candidate shall satisfy the eligibility requirement to submit a thesis for a master’s program when completing a master’s program, then the eligibility requirement for completing a doctoral program shall be commensurate with the requirements for the full-time doctoral program. Requirements for a part-time integrative program shall be commensurate with the requirements of the part-time doctoral program.Article 10 (Determination of Full-time and Part-time Candidates)
Full-time and part-time status shall be distinguished by the following standards.
Full-time graduate student: Graduate students do not have accounts for 4 major social insurance systems under their name (Persons who are not otherwise employed)
② Part-time graduate student: Any graduate student who is not a full-time graduate studentAddenda
These regulations shall be in force on and after September 1, 2011.
Article 6 shall be amended and enforced on and after March 12, 2013.
Article 9 shall be amended and enforced on and after February 20, 2019.
Article 9, paragraph 3, subparagraph 3) shall be amended and enforced on and after February 9, 2021.
