Disney+ viewers have been left wide-eyed and captivated by the streaming platform's raunchy adaptation of Jilly Cooper's 1988 bonkbuster rivals.

However, it's not just the boobs, bottoms and viral video pejabat ngewe anak kecil willies (of which there are plenty), that have caught viewers' attention - they've also spotted a blink-and-you'll-miss it cameo by the author herself.

Keen-eyed viewers have been taking to social media to point out the moment the Rutshire Chronicles writer playfully appears on screen.

A scene in episode five of the series - which has thrilled critics and TV viewers alike this weekend - sees writer Lizzie Vereker (Katherine Parkinson) having the steamiest parts of her new novel read out in earshot of the restaurant's diners

And one of those diners was very familiar: Fans of Rivals, released on Disney+ on Friday, were delighted to see the book's author Dame Jilly Cooper making a surprise cameo in the eight-part series (pictured second from left)

The camera momentarily panned on the 87-year-old author's face, who looked a little shocked at some of the racier lines being read out loud

'ADORE that Jilly Cooper has a cameo in #Rivals', wrote one, while another added: 'The Jilly Cooper cameo is perfection. The whole thing is a blast - camp as Christmas!

One fan wrote: 'Yep. Loved it when she popped up. And at just the perfect moment.'

Dame Jilly, 87, can be spotted in episode five, just as the character of Lizzie Vereker is having most salacious parts of her latest novel read out in a restaurant.

As the racy scene is read out, the camera pans in on a fellow diner - Dame Jilly.

Rivals finally hit screens on Friday to the delight of fans - and it debuted with a bang, pulling in a whopping Rotten Tomatoes score.

The Disney+ adaptation retells the story of charismatic Rupert Campbell Black (Alex Hassell) and his fierce rivalry with Lord Tony Baddingham (David Tennant)

The racy eight-part series is based on Jilly Cooper's raunchy 1988 novel, and follows the cutthroat world of independent television in 1986. Right, Bonkbuster queen Jilly Cooper pictured in 1973
